A multi-disciplinary police operation resulted in a resounding success when they intercepted a group of armed suspects who were en route to hit a jewelry shop in a mall in Pretoria.

A shootout with the police ensued, one of the suspects was fatally wounded and a firearm was recovered from him. A total of four vehicles believed to have been used in the commission of crime were seized for further investigation and three more firearms were found in two of the vehicles.
