Midlands EMS Advanced Life Support paramedics were dispatched to the Merrivale area for a medical emergency.
Upon arrival, it was determined that the patient was in critical condition and required advanced life support treatment. A decision was made on scene to call in a Netcare911 helicopter to assist.
The patient was placed on a manual ventilator at the scene before being moved to the helicopter, which landed nearby in a field.
Once loaded, the patient was airlifted to a specialist hospital for the further care that he required.
