Driver fatigue blamed for a truck crash on the B2 route +- 25 kms from Swakopmund towards Arandis
An apparent eye-witness account confirms that fatigue was a contributing factor in this mornings truck accident on the B2 route +- 25 kms from Swakopmund towards Arandis. The truck apparently drifted into the oncoming lane narrowly missing a pick-up travelling in the opposite direction. If the driver of the pick-up did not take evasive action it surely would have resulted in a head-on crash.
The truck left the road, went down an embankment and overturned killing the passenger instantly while the entrapped driver sustained critical injuries. Sadly the driver died at the scene while being extricated from the overturned truck. Hydraulic rescue equipment was used to free both from the wreckage.
