Between Monday 18 and Wednesday 20 September 2023, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct Officers with other EMPD Units, conducted by-laws enforcement operations, in the Crystal Park, Putfontein and Benoni areas.
On the R50 roadway, the officers steered their operation, where traders who were trading on the sidewalks in obstruction of a road traffic signal, were removed. In the Putfontein area on Putfontein Road, Officers attended to a complaint of people littering in the open field and instructed those found on the scene to clean up and never utilise that place as a dumping site.
On Pretoria Road, there were trucks parked at a no-parking area, and there have been several previously issued verbal warnings indicating that they are not supposed to park there. The officers towed away the five (5) trucks for failing to comply with the Officers’ instructions and parking in contravention of a road traffic sign. The trucks were taken to the Brakpan pound, and the drivers were issued with Section 56 notices for their contravention.
The EMPD will conduct operations of this nature, across the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE), to ensure that all municipal by-laws are adhered to.
