Gauteng: At 13H35 Wednesday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the R21 before the R25 offramp in Glen Marais Kempton Park on the East Rand.
Reports from the scene indicate that a light delivery vehicle and a heavy motor vehicle were involved in a collision.
The driver of the bakkie a 46-year-old male who was also the only occupant of the vehicle had sustained serious traumatic injuries.
A Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioner stabilised the patient while the fire and rescue services used hydraulic tools to free him from the wreckage.
Due to the serious injuries sustained a Netcare helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift the man to a specialist facility for further treatment.
