The South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) of the Hawks’ in Western Cape together with the Beaufort West K9 unit and the Beaufort West Flying Squad arrested a 35-year-old suspect during a joint operation today.
The team stopped a white truck during a vehicle checkpoint on the N1 highway near Beaufort West travelling from Johannesburg destined for Cape Town. A search of the truck was conducted.
Two brown boxes containing 20 000 suspected mandrax tables were found and seized for further investigation.
The suspect is due in the Beaufort West Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 January 2022 for a charge of dealing in illicit drugs worth an estimated street value of R1, 2 Million.
