Another week, another million Rands worth of confiscated illicit cigarettes. The earlier wisdom displayed by the Officer Commanding Joint Tactical Headquarters Limpopo Colonel Choene Samuel Mabotja when he invited Agriculture -South Africa Limpopo is really paying dividends.
The members of Charlie Company of 4 Artillery Regiment received a call from one of the farmers whom for security reasons, whose name cannot be disclosed, that there is a lot of suspicious movement on his farm. Upon investigation, the suspects ran away disappearing into the darkness of the night leaving behind 80 x Master Boxes, 22 x cartons, and 03 packets of illicit cigarettes with an estimated customs value of R 1 129 182, 00.
Needless to say, the cigarettes were confiscated and handed over to the South African Revenue Service/CUSTOMS.
