At approximately 10 am on Friday, Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to several motor vehicle collisions on the M7 eastbound between the N2 and the Bellville Road area.
In the most serious, paramedics found a light delivery vehicle had crashed into the back of a heavy-duty vehicle. The driver, a male aged approximately thirty years old, was found to be entrapped in the wreckage with serious injuries.
Intermediate Life Support practitioners worked fervently to stabilize him whilst a Netcare911 rescue technician cut him free using the Jaws-of-life.
Once free he was transported rapidly by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.
Traffic in the area was severely affected as the roadway was closed due to several crashes.
In a secondary collision in the backlog, a female driver suffered moderate injuries and was treated and stabilized before being taken to a private medical facility by Emer-G-Med paramedics.
