Various units of the South African Police Service including K9 Unit, Public Order Police, Visible Policing Unit and Corporate Communication and Liaison together with Mangaung Metro Municipality Law Enforcement embarked on a Reclaiming the City Operation during the early hours of Friday 19 January 2024.
The team arrived at the abandoned Put-put building at the corner of Park Road and 1st Avenue to clear the building of vagrants.
The street dwellers are suspected to be perpetrators of a number of crimes such as common robbery, theft out of motor vehicle burglary (both business and residential) in the vicinity.
A total of 11 illegal occupants were evicted and 1 kilogram of dagga seized. No arrest were made.
