One person has been seriously injured in a serious truck collision on the M7 Edwin Swales Drive by Wakesleigh Road just after 9 am on Monday morning.
ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived on the scene to find that two trucks had collided at the intersection. One driver was found severely entrapped in his truck and was stabilized in the vehicle while Netcare911 Rescue Technicians and the Ethekwini Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment to try and free the man.
The patient was entrapped for almost two hours and once extricated the man was placed on specialized equipment and rushed through to a nearby Durban hospital for the further treatment that he required. The other truck driver was uninjured in the collision.
At this stage, the events leading up to the accident are unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
