A male truck driver has been killed, whilst two other men have been left with moderate injuries following a heavy motor vehicle collision on the N3, near Harrismith earlier.
Emer-G-Med Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that the two heavy goods vehicles had collided at high impact, before leaving the roadway and coming to a rest down an embankment.
The driver and passenger of one of the vehicles were treated and stabilized on scene before being taken through to a nearby hospital for further care.
The driver and only occupant of the second vehicle, was found to have sustained fatal injury and was declared deceased on arrival of paramedics.
The cause of the collision and the events preceding it are unclear and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation.
