A man, believed to be in his 30s, was left seriously injured this afternoon when he was struck by a large truck on the N2 outside of George in the Western Cape.
ER24 paramedics, along with the George Fire Services, arrived on the scene shortly after 12h30 to find the man lying in the left-hand lane of the road. The truck that had struck the man was found parked approximately 100 metres away.
Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained severe injuries to his legs, leaving him in a serious condition.
The man was treated for his injuries, and provided with several advanced life support interventions, before he was transported to George Provincial hospital for further care.
No other injuries were found on the scene.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
