Police apprehend two suspects and recover stolen property in Roedtan
Two suspects aged 28 and 41 were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property during tactical led operation at Roedtan, on Friday 17 March 2023 at around 14:30.
Members SAPS in Roedtan together with Mokopane Crime Intelligence and Mokopane Detectives were conducting stop and search operations when they stopped and searched a white Kia 1ton truck in Roedtan along the road next to Police Station. They have recovered seven tyres and rims, one 25L container of diesel and two batteries all valued at an estimated value of R80 000-00.
According to the information, the driver and his crew could not provide reasonable facts about properties or proof of purchase. They were immediately arrested and white Kia 1ton truck was also seized.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the property were stolen during a robbery at a construction site along the R519 in the Zebediela policing area during February 2023. Owners of the company were informed and positively identified the stolen property.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has lauded the Police for the proactive measures of always being on alert and acting appropriately to arrest criminals in the Province. “It is clear that Police are at all times ready to tackle crime and put perpetrators behind bars,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
The two suspects will soon appear before the local Magistrate’s Court for possession of stolen property.
The Police investigations are continuing.
