The members of the 4 Artillery Regiment confiscated illicit cigarettes valued at R1,062, 232.00 together with the vehicle transporting them which was a Quantum valued at about R400 000.00. The cigarettes together with the vehicle were handed over to the South African Police Service at Musina.
The confiscation took place as a result of a tip-off by a member from the South African National Parks based in Mapungubwe. The soldiers from Pontdrift Operational Base under the command of Captain Molebatsi reacted with lightning speed to make a successful confiscation whereby the driver abandoned the vehicle after noticing that he was intercepted.
