MasterDrive would like to welcome their headline partner, Santam Heavy Haulage, in their first ‘Driving the Influence’ hybrid event to be held during Transport Month. Riding on the resounding success of Women with Drive in August, MasterDrive looks forward to introducing this new and exciting as well as important event with Santam Heavy Haulage by our side.
The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says Driving the Influence will address an important topic amongst South Africans: drink driving. “Year after year we see the same tragic occurrence in our road fatality rates, crashes involving drunk drivers and the arrest of drivers under the influence is always one of the highest causes of crashes.
“During ‘Driving the Influence,’ we will bring a number of important industry role players together to discuss the importance of playing their part in reducing the incidents of this on our roads. Santam recognises just how essential this is and has joined us as a headline partner in driving the message against drink driving.”
Anton Cornelissen, head of Santam Heavy Haulage, says “As a socially responsible organisation that strives to uphold and promote South Africa’s laws, Santam has zero tolerance toward driving under the influence and the consequent contribution to the high fatalities on our roads. We support raising awareness in this regard whenever given the chance, by supporting both government and non-profit organisations’ initiatives in the effort to clamp down on drink driving.
“The partnership with MasterDrive is an important one as it aligns with our strategy to focus on driver wellness as well as skill development that aims to reduce accidents due to human error. As an organisation that values its people, it is essential to promote the same culture to all our clients and stakeholders. It places a focus on the people on the ground and equips them with skills to make their working environment conducive for productivity. This is to the benefit of the operator as well.”
This partnership will have a widespread positive impact. “Through the partnership, we hope to reach a wide audience in raising awareness and contributing to driver wellness and skills development. It will directly affect achievement of our objective of reducing carnage on our roads and creating safer roads for the South African community,” says Cornelissen.
The support of an organisation that sees the effect of drink driving first-hand will play a vital role in spreading the message and reaching a wider audience. “We look forward to working with Santam Heavy Haulage in this endeavour as they set the example in leading the way against drink driving. When all organisations work together, irrespective of what role they play in the industry, we will see significant change.
“Register now to attend either virtually or in person. Join us in yet another MasterDrive adventure in our newest Transport Month initiative. We look forward to welcoming Santam Heavy Haulage on board in helping us drive this very important message home,” says Herbert.
