A 51-year-old foreign national will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of possession of illegal cigarettes. He was also issued a fine for the possession of other counterfeit goods.
On Thursday, 8 February 2024 at about 17:00, members of the Bloemfontein Flying Squad received information about illicit cigarettes at East End Business Park in Mckenzie Street, and they immediately reacted to it.
On arrival, they searched the premises and found 93 boxes of illicit cigarettes and other counterfeit goods. The estimated street value of the items is about R1,35 million.
One suspect was immediately apprehended for possession of illicit cigarettes. Police continued to issue a suspect a fine for being in possession of other counterfeit goods.
