One male suspect was arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Operations officers in possession of a hijacked White Hyundai H100 pickup in City and Suburban, Johannesburg.
Today whilst on patrol at Pritchard Street in the Johannesburg CBD officers were approached by a man who explained to them that he had just been hijacked at End and Helen Joseph Streets.
Together with the complainant officers started searching for the vehicle which was transporting fidges, microwaves and washing machines.
Whilst driving along Joe Slovo Drive the complainant spotted the Hyundai. Officers stopped the vehicle and instructed the driver to step out.
The complainant pointed the driver out as the one who hijacked him, together with three other suspects who earlier fled driving a Blue Hyundai Getz.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Jeppe Police Station. He will likely appear in court on Monday 16 May 2022.
