The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka today launched the first phase of the construction for D1331 and P233 in Ward 26, eMadadeni, Newcastle Local Municipality.
The upgrade of both these roads will see the communities benefiting with road access to surrounding schools, Madadeni Hospital and other health facilities in the area, the upgrade of main road D1331 and P233 is set to create approximately 230 job opportunities whilst empowering emerging contractors of ward 6, ward 26 and ward 31 of Newcastle Local Municipality.
MEC Hlomuka later engaged the community in ward 25, where he also introduced the contractors of the project and detailed the project plans and opportunities.
