Two men were killed, and six others left injured this morning when a truck crashed into a stationary minibus on the N3 in Heidelburg.
At 05h47, ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the Provincial EMS and Fire Services already in attendance. A large truck and minibus were found on the side of the road well alight. Two men were found lying near the minibus while several people were found walking around on the scene.
The Fire Services began to extinguish the blaze while medics tended to the patients.
On assessment, medics found that two men had already succumbed to their numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead. Six other patients were found with minor to moderate injuries.
The patients were treated and thereafter transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
