KwaZulu-Natal: At 11H15 Tuesday morning, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the R102 between Ottawa and Verulam, North of Durban.
Reports indicate that two pedestrians walking in the emergency lane were struck down by a truck.
On arrival Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) had started CPR on an adult male pedestrian who had gone into cardiac arrest.
An adult female pedestrian was assessed and found to have sustained fatal injuries and was sadly declared deceased on the scene.
In a combined effort between Netcare 911, RUSA and Durban Metropolitan Police Search and Rescue, return of spontaneous circulation was achieved.
Once stabilised, the patient was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he later passed away.
