Lejweleputswa police hard at work to rid community of illicit drugs
Members arrested two suspects and seized a large amount of drugs from a flat and, dagga from a vehicle.
On 26 July 2023 at about 12:00, intelligence led information was received by Counter Narcotics and Welkom K9 Unit about a flat in Waterkant Street Odendaalsrus where drugs are kept. Upon arrival of the police, a search was conducted and the following drugs were found hidden inside a couch, 584 grams of Crystal Meth, 1,780 kg CAT, Butterscotch CAT 2,278 kg, Mixed CAT 872 grams, Cocaine bullets 48 grams with the estimated street value of R1 297 000.The owner of the flat was not at the premises.
On 24 July 2023 at about 21:50, members of Bothaville SAPS Highway Patrol were busy with vehicle stop and searches when they stopped a suspicious Grey Tata Indica with North West registration plates. Upon searching the vehicle, members found 27 bags of dagga inside the vehicle and arrested two suspects, aged 22 and 35 years old, for dealing in Dagga and their vehicle was also seized.
The Acting District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Brigadier Mzondi Mojafi praised residents of Odendaalsrus for trusting the SAPS members with this sensitive information which led to the seizure of this stash of drugs and members of K9 Unit and Counter Narcotics were also applauded for their swift reaction. “This also goes out to the ever ready members of Highway Patrol who always stop these criminals in their tracks,” said the Brigadier.
